PREPARED FOR SOMETHING IMPORTANT…We tend to start each day thinking its up to us to create what happens that day. In one sense we are responsible to plan the day. Yet in another sense, quite a lot has been pre-planned by someone quite higher than you and me…
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” ~Ephesians 2:10
In our youth we error in thinking the world is small and we are the center of it. But as years and maturity press upon us, we realize there are some very large wheels turning in the universe and we are just a spoke. That is actually the beginning of wisdom. Soon we grow to understand that the voice of God has spoken some specific things into our lives, and some kind of divine alignment is needed so we’re not swimming against the tide. Paul found himself swimming against the tide when Jesus showed up on the trail and said, “it’s hard to kick against the goads”. I’m not sure exactly what that means, but I am sure its another metaphor for being contrary to God’s plans. Are you getting up each day and just doing what you want? Then there is probably some contrary dynamics occurring in your life, because Christ Himself has some specific works that He’s planned for you and me to do. These plans have been hard-wired into our very skill-sets. These blueprints have been drafted long ago. Hear it clearly today, you and I have been PREPARED FOR SOMETHING IMPORTANT! ~verlon

I did not know as well...I will come back to this.
Against the social norm......Jesus telling Paul that it is hard to go against the goads...There are those things that poke us and prod us in our life..If not us the herd around us which we have a tendency to go along with...
ReplyDeleteCollective fear stimulates herd instinct, and tends to produce ferocity toward those who are not regarded as members of the herd.”
Bertrand Russell quotes (English Logician and Philosopher 1872-1970
Christ went up against that herd of Pharisee ...I can see why they call Christ our Sheppard....Getting that herd of humanity going in the God direction instead of being subjects of their own instinct or self perceived teaching, the goads of their own device..That herd responded with ferocity and persecution in a collective reaction.
Also getting Saul one day to become Paul. A complete redirection from God.. Requiring that he ignore the goads of that social norm of the times (P-heretical thinking) and the goads that Saul had been pushed along with, seemingly in a state of complete blindness to the truth of Christ...
Change is never easy .I like that you said" Prepared for something important today"...In that Christ prepared the availability in a path of change. The better direction of God is open for us today free from the goads of sin, as well the self defeating goading devices created in a limited herd society, and its perceived norms (Poverty, wars, addiction, crime ..Christ gives us freedom to get beyond ourselves and that herd mentality...Change is a Solution to and in Salvation... "The Lord is righteous: he has cut asunder the cords of the wicked" PS 129:4 Free!. No longer tied the bondage of wicked self destruction. Man is delivered into the Freedom to Change out of his bondage limiters or goads. Jesus is the light and the way out. What chance does a sharp stick have against the Lions roar...The Lion of Judah...... Forget the goads of our herd. The change of direction is in the following of His flock....Listen to his Mighty Roar....
