The Power Of Together...

THE POWER OF TOGETHER…We live in such an individualistic culture that we are probably blind to the immense amount of power that is actually housed in the concept of ‘together’. We chase our careers on our own, we plan our schedules on our own, we even work out our church engagements on our own. I am afraid the full potency of ‘together’ is somewhat lost on us Americans. Lets look at this verse…
“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For it they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!” ~Eccl. 4:9-10
I’ve heard two significant examples over the years regarding the power of ‘together’. First; Did you know a team of two horses can pull 9000 lbs. but a team of 4 horses can pull over 30,000 lbs.? Interesting isn’t it. Second; Adam Smith in his book ‘the wealth of nations’, reported a company that made pins. Each employee could produce about 20 pins per day. But when they took 10 employee’s and told them to work together, do you have an idea how many pins they started producing? Care to venture a guess?….You’re too low. The actual answer is…48,000 pins a day. Whoa! That’s stunning. When scripture tells to work together, I’m pretty sure its taking into account the exponential dynamics of ‘together’. Are you doing your spiritual and church life as a solo act? Perhaps there is a time to become open to THE POWER OF TOGETHER. ~verlon

  1. Collective understanding......Where would we be with the theory of gravity if we only saw Gravity as Newton saw it (accepted as truth and infallible for three hundred years)? Then Albert Einstein took this knowledge and expanded it collectively speaking and Hawking upon his works too.....In each of their lives they were not able to reach a point, no matter how great, to achieve it all, despite their brilliance, and find a complete scientific truth...But, as the same body of humanity collectively , not confining themselves to one perceptual limitation, they did succeeded more...Hawking actually came back after thirty years of work and revised his own works on the everything-everything else theory...Saying he was wrong thirty years earlier and proving it....Wow...
My point is that where/how would we see God today and the church, if Jesus had not come along and point out the limitations of Pharisees' thinking? Where would Paul be if God had not revealed the collective nature of truth in Christ changing Paul's wisdom? Not only did Christ get mad at their dogmatic thinking...The Pharisees' thought they were right to the point of killing Christ..
Knock and it shall be given.....(Remember our understanding is on this side of the door...God's infinite understanding on the other side...) But we must collectively answer it to get it ...
Christ said we were of one body in him..Collectively in God....More will be revealed....It seems to me, as I point out the above that it's not about one man's thoughts alone, even one life lived...Growing in God's truth means collectively accepting truth as it is revealed by the truth of God in time. ....I think therefore I am on this side of the door. God is what God is no matter what I think on the other side of the door. Truth....knock knock...beyond one understanding alone, beyond one life alone..We can get it collectively, as one body of humanity, in Christ together, and answer that door.....God is knocking too....He wants us to get it....
P.S. This is only one man's opinion...Please add to it collectively... Have faith..... Man, a work in progress, and not perfection is relying together that God is.......

  2. “Collective fear stimulates herd instinct, and tends to produce ferocity toward those who are not regarded as members of the herd.”BR..
Jesus that is why we call you our shepard..The Pharisees a herd of fear of anything outside thier understanding and you the shepard of God's revealing truth and that in conflict with them in that (God's) destiny for us .You Stood up to the herd, for us, and no matter the cost..No wonder they reacted as they did. The unlimiting wonder of God that is you. Thank you for your sacrifice to achive it beyond our understanding, we did not understand what we did in truth then without you....Praise to God.. you still deliver us beyond ourself's today....

  3. "The infinite is not written on the mind it can't grasp it..It is written on the heart, as life, whole, complete, being of the infinite alive, a heart beat of time...God's..Love it, hate it ,fear it, deny it, or limit it's unlimitlessness..Your still a part of it now... " NC
